Probity services

Independent assurance that your procurement process can withstand scrutiny

D1 Advisory is a procurement practice built for moments when the stakes are high and the process is public, because how you buy matters as much as what you buy.

What is probity and why do I need it?

Ever wondered what probity is and why its so important in business?
D1 Advisory is a procureemnt practice that takes the guess work out of it, and provides a quick explainer on what probity is, what the difference between and advisor and auditor is, and what to consider if your unsure if you need either.

What is probity?

Most people encounter the word ‘probity’ in a government tender document or a legal framework and do one of two things.

Why Do I Need Probity?

If you run a small business, probity probably sounds like someone else’s problem. Or a government thing. Until it isn’t.

Expertise for those moments when you need oversight

Probity is the assurance that a procurement process has been conducted fairly, transparently, and in accordance with the rules it set for itself.

When the decision matters, when multiple suppliers are competing, or when the organisation needs to demonstrate that the outcome was reached on merit, probity oversight is what protects the integrity of the process and the reputation of the people who ran it.

D1 Advisory provides independent probity services for procurement processes where the stakes justify external oversight. The role is to observe, assess, and report.

Not to run the process, not to influence the outcome, and not to represent any party. Probity works because the advisor has no interest in who wins. The only interest is that the process was sound.

Independent probity oversight for procurement processes

A qualified, independent observer reviews your procurement process from planning through to contract award. The oversight covers evaluation methodology, conflict of interest management, documentation integrity, and decision-making fairness.

Probity plan and framework development

Before the process begins, D1 Advisory establishes the probity framework: what will be assessed, how it will be assessed, and what constitutes a finding. This gives the procurement team clarity on expectations and gives the organisation a defensible record of how probity was managed.

Real-time probity advice during live procurement processes

When a question arises during the process, you get immediate guidance on whether a proposed action is consistent with the probity framework. This prevents issues from escalating into findings.

Probity report and findings

D1 Advisory delivers a formal probity report documenting what was observed, any issues identified, and an overall assessment of the process integrity when the buying process ends. This report is the organisation's record that the procurement was conducted properly.

Integrity where it counts

When the stakes are high and the process is public, how you buy matters as much as what you buy. Government and enterprise organisations running formal procurement processes carry an obligation to demonstrate that every decision was made fairly, transparently, and in accordance with their governance requirements.

Probity auditing where an independent review of your process for compliance is required. D1 Advisory can serve as your probity advisor or your probity auditor on any given procurement activity. We cannot serve in both roles on the same process. That boundary exists to protect the independence of the oversight.

Probity Services are available as a standalone engagement or as a component of a broader Fractionalised Procurement or Function Set-up engagement.
